Süsse Skirt

Perfect for the 'in-between' weather is the Süsse Skirt* by the Eli Monster.

What makes this skirt special is it's fullness (is that actually a word?), its beautiful scallop hemline, and straps, giving it a vintage vibe.

For spring time we paired it with a puff-sleeved tee and long socks. But add a long-sleeve tee and leggings (or tights) and you're all set for a day with a bit more chill in the air.

I made up this version with button-in straps. Adjusting the position of the buttons on the front helps to make sure the straps are the perfect fit.  I also managed to cross the straps at the back after these photos for a super secure fit.

The scalloped hem is made with a facing. I used a contrast coral fabric to jazz it up a bit.

The length is spot on for Miss M.  This skirt is a straight size 6.

The skirt is quick to make, and a pretty simple sew.

The fullness of the skirt makes for a gorgeous look, and plenty of twirling potential.

I sewed up the coordinating puffed sleeve shirt and separate collar to complete the look (more on those in another post).

I just love this vintage look. Even more so, as I used a vintage sheet for fabric.  Miss M picked it out of the stash. She has good taste.

With Halloween approaching, I can see this made up for a Dorothy or Alice (not a super accurate representation, but it would be perfect for a last minute costume).
