One Thimble Issue 20 Blog Tour

Welcome to the One Thimble Issue 20 Blog Tour.

I always look forward to a new issue of One Thimble*, and Issue 20 is fantastic. Don't forget to scroll through  to find a giveaway and schedule of all the tour posts.

I have two patterns I'm reviewing today - the #121 Ringer Raglan from Thread Faction, and the Riptide Boardshorts by Bubby and Me.

One of the things I love about One Thimble is that there are always patterns that work well for boys, and this issue is no different.

The Ringer Raglan has two options for sleeve lengths (the ones sewn are the 3/4 length). And there's also the option for bands or binding at the hems of the shorter sleeves, which is a really great look.

The neckline also, has the option of bands or binding (I used a band). I love having options such as this to help customise the look you're after.

The tee sews up really quickly. This was actually the second I sewed up (the colours didn't work well with the shorts).

The Riptide Boardshorts are quite unique. I remember looking at the pieces while sewing them up, wondering how they would work, but (of course) they came together beautifully, and are something a little different from your standard shorts.

This version is sewn up in a poly fabric I have lurking in my stash. Now I'll be on the lookout for peach skin and other board short materials.

I cut the back curved section on the bias for differentiation.  And of course there's the option to add piping along the curve. I'm always a fan of piping.

All up, I'm pretty thrilled with this combo. And having clothes that coordinate nicely is always a plus for this boy.

It's possible to purchase the patterns individually (#121 Ringer Raglan and Riptide Boardshorts).  However, I love having a copy of the whole issue (Issue 20), it's full of great patterns and articles. As always, there's an added bonus if you grab a copy of the issue before August 13 you'll also receive a set of colouring sheets to help plan your One Thimble projects.

And as part of the blog tour, there is a giveaway, to win a $50 voucher for One Thimble.

  2. I love the Riptide Shorts. That's what I would sew up first from this outfit.
Well if I can get my boy to like them. At 12, he's quite picky about what he'll wear and what not.
What I like (it being different) may just be reason for him not to wear it.
    But geez, I'm in love!
